LATAM Airlines reported it's consolidated results

LATAM Airlines Group reported operating income of USS114.2 million for first quarter 2013, a 149.8% increase compared to the USD $45.7 million pro forma operating income in first quarter 2012. Operating margin reached 3.4%, an increase of 2.0 points compared to 1.4% in 2012. This result reflects a steady recovery in business operations as we advance in the process of achieving the expected synergies from the merger between LAN and TAM.

Chilean GDP grows 4.1% during 2013 first quarter

PIB ChileChilean Gross Domestic Product (GDP) gained 4.1% year on year in the first quarter of 2013, Chilean Central Bank reported on Monday.  On the same statement, the institution informed GDP from the fourth quarter 2012 was up 0.5 %, resulting in an annualized growth rate of 2.0%. Analysts were expecting GDP to come in at 4.5 %.

Central Bank keeps the monetary policy rate

Central Bank, policy rateAfter it's monthly monetary meeting, the Chilean Central Bank decided to keep the monetary policy interest rate at 5% (annual).  The board of the institution based it's decision in the improvements showed by the international financial conditions.

AES Gener earnings decreased 34% in the first quarter of 2013

AES GenerAES Gener presented it's financial information for the three first months of the current year. In this period, the company registered earnings of USD $62 million in the same period, 34% lower than the net income of USD $93 million in the same period in 2012.  At the same time, it reported an EBITDA of US$167 million, which represents a decrease of 10% over the first quarter of 2012, principally the result of lower gross profit in 2013.

Chilean CPI falls 0.5% on-month in April

Embonor obtained a net profit of CLP $13,046 millions during 1Q2013

EmbonorCoca Cola Embonor, one of the biggest chilean bottlers, with operations in Chile and Bolivia, reached a net profit of CLP $13,046 which represents an increase of 3.6% compared with the same period of last year, according to the information presented to the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor (Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros - SVS).

Chile's Ministry of Energy obtained USD $50 millions to develop PV projects

The Chilean Ministry of Energy announced in a statement published on may, 6th that it had obtained funding to develop photovoltaic projects (PV) for USD $ 50 million from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF). The financial support will be provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) as soft loans for investors.

Entel revenues reached CLP $377,646 during the first quarter of the year

Revenues of Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones ("Entel") increased 11% in the first three months of this year.  Based on the consolidated information presented to the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor (Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros - SVS), total revenues of the company reached CLP $377,646 millions, a bigger result compared with the CLP $ 340,321 millions of the last year. This situation could be explained by the good results in mobile and data services (including IT).

Central Bank releases March's Economic Activiy Index

Colbun informed it's results for the first quarter of 2013

Endesa's profits decreased 4% during 1Q2013

Endesa
Net profit attributable to the Parent Company of Endesa reached $63,334 million in the period ended on march 31, 2013, a 4.4% decrease compared to the figure posted in the first three months of 2012. This was largely due to the $14,950 million higher deferred tax expense in Chile and a one percent increase in the tax rate in Colombia.
