Vodafone New Zealand, the largest operator in the country and the first to launch LTE services in New Zealand, has selected Nokia Networks to enable the launch of its commercial 700 MHz LTE network, one of the first Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) 700 MHz networks in the world. With speeds up to 10 times faster than standard 3G services, Vodafone customers in Papakura will soon enjoy advanced mobile broadband services with superior network quality, speed and coverage.
Microsoft Corp. announced it has completed its acquisition of the
Nokia Devices and Services business. The acquisition has been approved
by Nokia shareholders and by governmental regulatory agencies around the
world. The completion of the acquisition marks the first step in
bringing these two organizations together as one team.
At Microsoft's Build 2014, Nokia announced three Lumia smartphones based on Windows Phone 8.1 and a series of exclusive Nokia features. Nokia confirmed that Windows Phone 8.1 is scheduled to be available across the entire Lumia Windows Phone 8 portfolio as an over-the-air update this summer following testing and partner approvals.
